As a specialist provider in the hair and barbering sector The Link Academy have a wide range of qualifications offering short, medium and longer course durations to suit all applicants. All qualifications accredited by recognised awarding bodies such as VTCT, Skillsfirst or TQUK. and range from Award, Certificate and Diploma sized qualifications at levels 2, 3 and 4.
Effective management and leadership are essential in any business and the skills learned within these courses can be transferred to a range of sectors and job roles.
Management and Team Leader courses are suitable for all ages and backgrounds. The government have invested in apprenticeships which means regardless of your age you may be able to receive funding to help towards the cost of these qualifications.
Training is at your convenience. Courses are run within our academy, blended online learning or in your workplace.
Entry Requirements
You could get into this job in a number of different ways, like:
- being promoted from within your department
- moving from a management job in a related job area
- from a graduate trainee management scheme
- from a management apprenticeship scheme
Customer service experience is sometimes more useful than qualifications in retail management.
You could get into this job through an apprenticeship.

What you'll Do
Your main focus will be to improve the commercial performance of the business by increasing its turnover and maximising sales.
Your day-to-day activities may include:
- managing and motivating teams to increase sales
- overseeing recruitment and training of staff
- keeping track of stock and ordering
- organising sales promotions and in-store events
- dealing with queries, complaints and feedback from customers
- analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales
- maintaining awareness of market trends and monitoring competitors
SALARY
Starting
£20,000 to £30,000
The larger salaries are usually offered by the larger businesses.
Experienced
£35,000 to £45,000
You may get bonuses and commission for meeting targets.
HIGHLY Experienced
£50,000 to £70,000

Working hours, patterns and environment
You’ll normally work between 37 and 40 hours a week, often including weekends and some evenings.
Career path & progression
With experience you could progress into area or regional management.
You could also move into more specialist areas, like customer service, training and operations management.
